The Economics Club of Hampton Roads is an organization for business and government executives and community leaders who share an interest in the practical implications of economic principles, trends and events. Co-sponsored by ODU's Access EU program, the event is free for Economics Club members and $50 for non-members. during the dinner, followed by dessert and networking time. The Economics Club program begins with a 3:45-4:30 p.m. It was adapted in 2011 for the HBO television movie "Too Big to Fail." Chronicling the events of the 2008 financial crisis and the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the book looks at the strategic decisions made by business titans and government leaders as the economy hung in the balance. "Too Big to Fail" is an overview of the early stages of the financial crisis that led to the decision to create the Troubled Asset Relief Program. He is also the founder and editor of DealBook. Sorkin is the author of "Too Big to Fail: The Inside Story of How Wall Street and Washington Fought to Save the Financial System - and Themselves." He is co-host of "Squawk Box" on CNBC and a New York Times columnist and chief mergers and acquisitions reporter.
